Floor Sealers

Floor sealing is a technique used to describe the process of applying a sealing type chemical to a porous-type floor surface such as vinyl or concrete. Not only does it make your floor look clean, but it also helps to protect the floor. Typically in the domain of an experienced floor care professional, floor sealing is considered an art form, and if done well, can make a big difference to the overall look and longevity of your floor. It works by filling up the pores of a porous surface with polymer molecules from a specifically made floor sealing chemical. Once these pores are filled, it makes the floor surface very smooth and prevents water and dirt from entering these pores on the floor. Once a floor is sealed, it effectively creates a new floor surface, and this makes it easier to clean away dirt and other debris. Floor sealing effectively inserts a new physical barrier between the raw material of the floor and new dirt that may arise, thereby helping the floor stay clean and prevent damage. Given the technical nature of floor sealing and the importance of selecting the right chemical - there are generally three types of different floor sealers: polyurethane-based, solvent-based, and water-based floor sealers. Selecting the right sealant will depend on several factors including, the exact material the floor is made of, how frequently floor sealing is applied, and also the volume of foot traffic the floor needs to handle.
